Ensuring the complete functionality of a Lightning Protection System (LPS) is critical. While proper installation and initial inspection are paramount, the ongoing maintenance of an LPS is often overlooked, which can lead to potential vulnerabilities. At Southern Lightning Protection, we emphasize the importance of consistent maintenance to uphold the integrity of your LPS.
The NFPA 780 installation standard provides recommended guidelines for LPS maintenance, which should always be provided to the owner post-installation. Regardless of the specific LPS standard used, we strongly recommend providing comprehensive maintenance information to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the system.
Maintenance intervals and testing methodologies can vary based on the installation standard. Our team possesses extensive experience and knowledge to conduct various testing methods, including 3-point fall of potential tests, in compliance with applicable standards.
Every test result we provide includes a detailed sketch or an interactive web-based map. This map serves as a valuable tool, not only for visualizing the LPS layout but also as a GPS-enabled asset tracker. This ensures that subsequent tests and inspections are consistently performed on the correct assets.
This innovative mapping feature also facilitates the efficient tracking of any system deficiencies. For instance, if a specific component, such as "DC1," is identified with an error, the GPS/map accurately guides our technicians to the precise location.
Our reports incorporate a comprehensive legend to clarify all abbreviations, such as "DC" (Down Conductor) or "PAT" (Perimeter Air Terminal), which are often derived from the Test Plan or the Compliant Asset Plan (CAP). Additionally, each report includes section summaries of assets, allowing for a quick overview of areas where the LPS may require the most attention.
We offer two distinct types of inspection reports to meet your specific needs:
Immersive Report: This in-depth report provides a comprehensive overview of every asset within your LPS. It includes individual CAP grades and a clear pass/fail grade for each asset, offering a highly detailed assessment of your system's health.
Critical Report: Designed for efficiency, this report highlights the most crucial findings from the inspection. It provides a concise breakdown of both visual and electronic testing results, with all electronic testing data fully included.
